At Time Inc. Custom Publishing, we had been producing a quarterly magazine for Merrill Lynch for years and several people we were working with at Merrill lost friends in the 9/11 attacks. They wanted to create a memorial for their friends and co-workers. We thought that was a great idea and, in the end, we were able to meet the goal of leaving sales promotions entirely out of the publication. This was a widely appreciated project and I think it offered some closure for everyone involved.
